Matthew and Maria Deegan opened Huntington Physical Therapy in 2002. The practice places an emphasis on manual therapy, quality patient contact, and a comfortable environment in the office. Maria is a physical therapy assistant (PTA) and has over 30 years of experience in the field. Together they do their best to ensure that patients can feel upbeat and positive while coming for their rehabilitation. Matthew decided a long time ago that he wants to be the best practice in town, not the biggest.

Education

Matthew Deegan earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Boston University, his Masters of Science (MS) degree in Physical Therapy (PT) from Touro College of Health Sciences and an undergraduate degree in Health Science from S.U.N.Y. Cortland. He graduated with honors from all programs. Matthew has his Board Certification as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist, designated by the letters OCS. He joins the ranks of only 2500 physical therapists in the United States to achieve this certification. Matthew continues his education with several study programs each year to learn new treatment methods and to better his skills as a physical therapist.

Interests

Matthew resides in Huntington with his wife, three children and their labrador retriever, Bella. Being born and raised in the town has driven him to want to provide the best service to help his neighbors. He has a background in sports as an All-County butterfly swimmer in high school, a triathlete and avid fitness buff, and enjoys boating and the outdoors. He is also a fine musician and can be heard playing his trumpet with the Huntington Community Band at Heckscher Park on Wednesday evenings in July, as well as sitting first chair trumpet with The Northwinds Symphonic Band.
